“My parents were always getting crazy because…,” Aryna Sabalenka reveals an unpredictable side to her personality letting her fans a childhood glimpse

Belarusian tennis ace Aryna Sabalenka has revealed the aspect of her game that drove her parents crazy. As Sabalenka won her second Grand Slam title on Saturday, she talked about her evolution as a player and it was then she revealed what was that one behavior that made her parents go crazy. The Belarusian said that her habit of breaking rackets did not really sit well with her parents.
It is not a hidden fact that Sabalenka has a habit of breaking rackets when things seem to go out of hand. There have been quite a few instances in her career so far where the 25-year-old has smashed her racket after losing a game, a point, or a match. However, what is interesting is that Sabalenka has had this issue since her childhood days.
While taking to Vogue Australia, Sabalenka revealed that her parents did not like this habit of her and often complained about it. The Belarusian also revealed that she broke around six to seven rackets during her childhood.
I don’t know. My parents were always getting crazy because I was breaking the racket. But the only thing they would say is they would never be pissed at me if you give it your all and you fight for every point. For them, it didn’t matter if I was losing or winning, it’s about giving it all. And not breaking the rackets. [laughs] The only thing they got mad at me was breaking the racquets. Before I was 12 years old, I broke six or seven racquets, which is a lot.Aryna Sabalenka revealed.

Sabalenka has been consistent in her performances over the past few years, especially in 2023, where she made it to the semifinal of a Grand Slam tournament at the least. Although she could win only one title last year, Sabalenka maintained a supreme winning percentage.
Now, the 25-year-old Belarusian has started her 2024 season on a high. She made it to the final at the Brisbane International and then won the title in Melbourne. Following her title-winning performance at the 2024 Australian Open, Sabalenka was asked what drives her. She said that the wins bring in an adrenaline rush and a boost of energy.
Every time you win you feel like, okay, it wasn’t a waste of time and I’m doing everything right. You have this understanding that you are where you're meant to be. It’s a boost of energy and adrenaline and belief and you just feel alive.Aryna Sabalenka said.
Sabalenka is on a 14-match winning streak at the Australian Open. Also, she became the only woman to win back-to-back titles after Victoria Azarenka, who did it in 2012 and 2013.
