World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka has made a strong start to the 2024 season. She started her season in Brisbane and ended up as the runner-up losing the finals to Elena Rybakina.

She did not drop a set en route to the finals but the Kazakh cleaned her out in straight-sets too. Next up was her big title defense at the 2024 Australian Open. The Belarusian did not drop a single set as she made a successful title defense and won her second career singles Grand Slam title.

She took a well-deserved break and returned to the Tour at the Dubai Championships. She was initially scheduled to play in the Qatar Open but chose to skip the WTA-1000 event. Her run in Dubai wasn’t long as she crashed out in her campaign opener in the second round itself.

Donna Vekic beat the former World No. 1 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-0 to knock her out. This was however just her second loss of the season in her 13th match so not a big concern for the Belarusian. As she prepares for her upcoming event, she recently hosted a Q&A session on her Instagram story.

One follower asked her if she played golf. Sabalenka not only answered the question, but she also posted a video of her hitting a shot. Although dressed casually in a top and shorts wearing slides, she still hit a good clean strike from the looks of it.

I can hit some good shots
Wrote Sabalenka along with the video.

Aryna Sabalenka to return to action directly at the Indian Wells

Despite two more events lined up in the final week of February, the World No. 2 will not be making any appearance. She will instead play directly in the tennis paradise at the Indian Wells Open. The tournament will commence in the first week of March.

The Belarusian was a runner-up at the event last year, losing to Rybakina in a close final. Prior to the 2023 edition, she had reached the fourth round in 2019 and the third round in 2018. Her worst defeat at the event came in 2022 when Jasmine Paolini knocked her out in the second round.
