3-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 Ash Barty continues to keep her fans and followers guessing her next move as the Australian retired earlier this season, just weeks after winning the 2022 Australian Open. It was a shocking decision by Barty who was on top of her game and had been the World No. 1 for 112 consecutive weeks and looked completely invincible.

Barty, apart from tennis, had been a former Cricketer and an occasional golfer as well with her fiance Garry Kissick being a Pro golfer. With her retirement, many expected Barty to return to either of the sports and while she has closed the door on cricket, we might actually see the Australian try her luck at Golf with her latest commitment to feature in the Icons Series of Golf.

The Icons Series will see Team USA and Team World compete against each other across six sessions featuring 12 athletes from various sporting backgrounds. Barty’s team will be captained by South African Golfing legend Ernie Els and so far comprises Cricketing royalty in form of Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Yuvraj Singh and AB de Villiers who are joined by football stars Harry Kane, Pep Guardiola and James Millner along with boxing great Canelo Alvarez and rugby star George Gregan while two more members are not yet revealed.

“I often found when I was playing a lot of tennis I struggled with my golf swing, I couldn’t quite get the contact right. When I wasn’t playing tennis I would play better golf, so there’s no excuses now, the tennis isn’t an issue. There are some similarities (in the sports) but I still think a little bit like a tennis player, in a sense of when something is being explained to me I relate it back to tennis, that’s my comfort zone,” said Barty about her love for Golf in comments reported by Fox Sports Australia.
