Thanasi Kokkinakis opens up about his relationship with Nick Kyrgios

Kokkinakis and Kyrgios enjoyed a dream run at the Australian Open this year as both of the players went on to gran their first major title win in any format as they beat compatriots Matt Ebden and Max Purcell in the finals of the event in a fascinating final. The chance of doubles conquer at this year’s Wimbledon was scrapped as well as Nick Kyrgios made it into the finals of the singles event where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the finals.
Talking to the German Tennis Magazin, Thanasi Kokkinakis opened up about his on-court friendship with Nick Kyrgios where he said, “We get along very well off the pitch, and that carries over into the game. Many doubles couples only play together because they feel they can play well. Then the chemistry is often wrong. Our strengths complement each other: we both serve well and return well. We play a different style that many doubles players are not familiar with. We’re just having fun.”
On a possible pairing once again in the future, Kokkinakis said, “yes, we play Wimbledon and I think the US Open too, maybe some Masters at the end of the year. Maybe then the final in Turin. Who knows if we’ll ever get that chance again, so at least we can try.“
