“It’s hard to improve on that,” ATP Chief Andrea Gaudenzi discusses the Tour’s state post the Big-3
ATP President draws comparison between different generations of men's tennis and justifies that future of the sport is safe.

Big-3
All three players, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic have had a significant impact on the sport of tennis, both on and off the court. Together they have won a total of 64 Grand Slam titles and have dominated this sport for over two decades now.
The Big-3 have established themselves as some of the greatest tennis players of all time, and their legacies will continue to inspire future generations of players. They have also helped to elevate the overall level of play in men’s tennis, and their influence on the sport will be felt for many years to come.
While speaking with Globo, ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi expressed that “I really think the current product is fantastic. We have survived the end of different generations, first that of Vilas, Borg, McEnroe, Wilander, or Becker, then that of Agassi and Sampras. Everyone thought there would be a big void after Agassi and Sampras, then came Rafa, Roger, and Novak, who broke all records. I’ve never heard anyone say that a player can win more Grand Slams than Sampras, and in the last 15 years we’ve had three players that they’ve surpassed him.”
He continued and said “Generally speaking, we are in a great moment: we have the “old generation”, with Rafa and Novak still on the circuit; a very recent generation, with Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz or Holger Rune, but I also think that we have a good generation between the two, with names like Medvedev or Tsitsipas. All of these guys are great personalities. It’s hard to improve on that because we have three generations fighting for the biggest titles in the sport.”
The Big-3 leave a big impact on the sport

Gaudenzi expressed great optimism about the present state of men’s tennis and its future, even after the departure of the Big-3. Although Gaudenzi’s position requires him to communicate positively, his statement aptly summarizes the situation and is difficult to refute. The Big-3 has drawn in more fans to the sport of tennis, both in terms of television viewership and live attendance.
The success of the Big-3 has led to changes in how players approach their training and playing styles. They have also become highly marketable athletes, with many endorsement deals and product lines associated with their names. However, fans believe that it’s not possible to replicate what these three have done to the sport. The future of tennis is nevertheless in safe hands as the talent is abundant in many young players.
