A former World No. 4 and Danish tennis pro, Holger Rune, reached the quarterfinals at the Paris Masters event, where he was ousted by the World No. 1. The 20-year-old failed to defend his title and lost it to Novak Djokovic himself. Prior to that, the 20-year-old reached the semis at the Swiss Indoors in Basel, where he suffered a straight-set defeat to defending champion Felix Auger-Aliassime.

With his last win at the Bavarian International Tennis Championships in April this year, the World No. 10 made a surprise entry to the season-ending event.

Novak Djokovic, on the other hand, has had a phenomenal run this season. The 36-year-old has won three out of the four Grand Slam titles this year and is just one match-win away from cementing his ranking to end the 2023 season as the World No. 1.

With his latest title win at the Open in Bercy, the Serb demolished Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, ousting him with a score of 6-4, 6-3. The 36-year-old has won every single match since his defeat against World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in the Finals at Wimbledon. Alcaraz claimed his second Grand Slam title, beating Djokovic in an epic showdown over five sets.

Holger Rune vs. Novak Djokovic: Match Prediction

The upcoming match at the ATP Finals between World No. 10 Holger Rune and US Open winner Novak Djokovic will mark the duo’s third clash in 2023. Novak previously took on Rune at the quarters in Bercy, where he won with a 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 win over the 20-year-old.

At the Italian Open event, however, which was held earlier in May, Rune demolished Djokovic, who was seeded at No. 1, scoring 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 over three sets.

Currently, the duo’s head-to-head stands at 2-2 apiece. Holger Rune will look forward to exacting his revenge by beating Djokovic in his upcoming match. If the 20-year-old refrains from making any unforced errors and keeps his head in the game, he might be able to break Djokovic’s winning streak. However, given his excellent form, this might be a challenging task for the Danish player.
