Chengdu Open winner, Alexander Zverev has had a fantastic season so far. The 25-year-old last played at the Shanghai Masters event where he faced defeat in straight sets at the hands of Russia’s Roman Safiullin. At the China Open, the German made it to the final 4. He, however, lost his semi-final round match to World No.3, Daniil Medvedev in a two-setter.

Jordan Thompson, on the other hand, lost his first round at the qualifiers of the Shanghai Masters to French tennis player, Terence Atmane over three sets. Although his poor form at the tournament came as a shock to tennis fans, the player’s quarter-final round finish in Chengdu as well as the Citi Open in Washington have been some of his best performances this season so far.

With their next clash scheduled at the Japan Open on Monday, Alexander Zverev leads Jordan Thompson in their head-to-head.
