Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andy Murray

Stefanos Tsitsipas is looking for redemption on the grass. This is the only surface where Tsitsipas has not made it to the final of any grass-court tournament. He had also lost in the first round of Wimbledon in his previous two appearances. After a shocking fourth-round exit from the French Open 2022, Tsitsipas arrived in Stuttgart as the top seed and he would like to make it to the final of the ATP Stuttgart Open.

Tsitispas finds himself facing former world number 1, and two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray in the quarterfinal of the Stuttgart Open. Murray has returned from his hip surgeries and he is gaining momentum on grass. He would also look to avenge his loss in the first round of the US Open against Tsitsipas. Considering Murray’s affinity and Tsitsipas’s struggle on the grass, it looks like a perfect occasion for Murray to bag another top 10 wins.

Stefanos Tsitsipas started his grass season with a clean victory and he would like to get his first grass-court title in Stuttgart. Murray would be a true test for Tsitsipas’s improvement on grass as the veteran is trying to set his form straight before he begins another Wimbledon campaign in London. Their last meeting at the US Open was quite an event with Murray being extremely upset about Tsitsipas’s long bathroom breaks.

Murray would be looking to teach the world number 5 some lesson on the grass and Tsitsipas is not taking it lightly as well. He knows that he will be up against one of the best grass-court players, who despite being absent due to injuries is bouncing back reasonably well. Any slips from either side and the match could end in their opponent’s favor.
