Hurkacz beat Dusan Lajovic in the first round and Jan Lennard-Struff in the second round of the tournament in straight sets. His victory against Tallon Griekspoor was special, as he made a comeback after losing the first set. The semifinal clash between Hurkacz and Ugo Humbert was also worth watching.

Felix Auger-Aliassime had a fairly easier route to the final compared to Hubert Hurkacz. However, he had to beat top seed Holger Rune in the semifinal. Although Rune has been out of form for a long time, beating him is an achievement considering the rough patch that Felix Auger-Aliassime has been going through lately.

Auger-Aliassime is 2-1 ahead against Hubert Hurkacz in competitive matches. The Canadian defeated the Polish once on hard court and once on grass while Hubert emerged victorious only once on hard court. Unfortunately, none of their matches took place this season or recently and they last met back in 2022. Since then, both players have changed a lot, especially Hurkacz.

Hurkacz has been in particularly great form lately, though. He recently won the 2023 Shanghai Masters against all odds and if he now wins the Swiss Indoor, he will be ending the season on a great note. The Polish is clearly the favorites to win the final.
