However, Medvedev asserted his dominance against Felix Auger Aliassime in the third round with a straight-set victory. Continuing his fine form, the Russian beat his fourth-round opponent easily to book a date with Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals.

His opponent Hurkacz, the top-ranked Pole is one of the strongest servers on tour. With the same raging speed, the Pole concluded his fourth-round match against Arthur Cazaux. Entering his first-ever Australian Open quarter-finals, the 26-year-old would aim to go deep.
