Iga Swiatek vs Danielle Collins
World No.1 Iga Swiatek started her campaign at the 2024 Australian Open with a dominant win against former champion Sofia Kenin.
The Polish ace will now take on another American Danielle Collins in her second-round match. Swiatek is expected to sail through into the third round.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Lorenzo Sonego
Spanish ace Carlos Alcaraz had to fight it out against Richard Gasquet in his opening-round match. The 20-year-old beat the French veteran 7-6, 6-1, 6-2 in two hours and twenty-two minutes.
The World No.2 has another tough opponent in Lorenzo Sonego in the second round. It is to be seen how Alcaraz handles the Italian.
Alexander Zverev vs Lukas Klein
Alexander Zverev opened his campaign with a win against Dominik Koepfer. Although it was not as clinical as the German ace would have wanted, Zverev managed to pin down his compatriot in four sets (4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3).
Now, he will be up against a qualifier in Lukas Klein in the second round. The German is expected to ease past his opponent.
Elena Rybakina vs Anna Blinkova
Last year’s finalist Elena Rybakina has started the 2024 season on a high and her confidence showed in her opening-round match against Karolina Pliskova.
The Kazakh ace beat her opponent in straight sets of 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. Rybakina would expect to register another emphatic win when she takes on Anna Blinkova.
Daniil Medvedev vs Emil Ruusuvuori
Russian tennis ace Daniil Medvedev had to sweat it out against Terence Atmane before the qualifier retired, handing Medvedev a win.
\The Russian lost the first set against Atmane but made a comeback to win the next two sets. Medvedev looked set to take the fourth set as well before Atmane decided to walk off. Nevertheless, the former World No.1 will now meet Emil Ruusuvuori and will hope to ease past the Finnish.
Jessica Pegula vs Clara Burel
