Former Spanish tennis player Alex Corretja said in a recent interview that youngster Carlos Alcaraz could shine at the 2024 Australian Open. The World No. 2 missed the tournament last year owing to an injury, and Correjta thinks that it is the perfect tournament for Carlos Alcaraz, who had a great season in 2023. 

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the season and it sets the tone for the tour. Alex Corretja said that it often gets hot and dramatic at the Australian Open, especially in the night sessions. That, added to the way the ball bounces in the tournament, makes it a perfect fit for Carlos Alcaraz.

I think the Australian Open is a perfect fit for Alcaraz because of the conditions, because of the way the ball bounces, because it can be hot, and because of night sessions where there is a kind of atmosphere that’s dramatic. Everything becomes spectacular and he likes that. It's a little bit like the night session in New York.

Carlos Alcaraz won the 2023 Wimbledon by defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. Apart from that, he also won three Masters: the Cincinnati, Madrid, and Indian Wells.

I think if he arrives well and with some preparation matches it's going to be perfect. He can play a very good Australian Open and he will be eager as an opportunity to seize knowing he didn't play last year, the last time he played there, he ended up losing a very close match.
