Barbora Krejčíková picks herself ahead of Rafael Nadal as one of the best players on clay
Rafael Nadal and Barbora Krejcikova
The ATP likes to put the players on the spot and give them some tricky questions for their head-to-head challenges. This edition of the under 5 seconds challenge was themed: European Clay.
Barbora Krejčíková, the current French Open Champion among the women picked herself, Iga Swiatek, the current world number 1 and the sunshine double winner, and Garbine Murguza. Barbora’s picks were ahead of Rafael Nadal, and the big three. It was quite a surprise for the French Open winner to not even consider the 13-time French Open winner at all. But, it might be the case that she was thinking amongst the women.
Other than Krejčíková, all of them had Rafael Nadal as their answer. That’s not one bit surprising as he has won 13 Roland Garros, 11 Monte-Carlo Masters, and 11 Barcelona Masters. Nadal is “the most” amazing player on the clay. The other additions were interesting including Dominic Thiem and Simona Halep, the 2019 French Open winner. They occurred many times as the answers. Dominic Thiem was not a surprise as well. He was the two-time finalist of Roland Garros and lost both times to Nadal.
Aryna Sabalenka chooses all of the big three
Aryna Sabalenka after being completely stuck blurted out all of the big three. It might not be the most original answer but it was certainly correct, as the big three had been in the last 17 Roland Garros finals.
On the question of the European clay tournaments, it seemed that most of them liked Madrid. Monte-Carlo, Rome, and Roland Garros were other honorable mentions. The European clay season has begun with the Monte-Carlo Masters being the first stop for many of the players. They will move to Madrid next for Madrid masters.
