The North American hard courts bring in extremely tricky conditions for the players. Canada, Cincinnati, and the US Open are known for being struck by wind, which makes it trickier than ever for the players.
Players continue to complain, but the umpire can’t help at all. A similar instance took place in Cincinnati recently when in a match between Barbora Krejcikova and Victoria Azarenka. The windy conditions were coming in the way of Krejcikova as she wasn’t able to hit shots freely.
The wind makes the ball travel slowly as it also pushes the ball in a certain direction. Players are unable to hit as they struggle to land the ball in the court. Azarenka too faced issues but wasn’t really complaining like her opponent. It was a first-round clash and Krejcikova being the 11th seed, many expected her to prevail. However, it was the Belarusian who took advantage of the conditions and Krejcikova’s inability to cope with them.
The other issue that the players need to face is the serve clock. Krejcikova in her animated discussion with the umpire was discussing that she couldn’t even wait for the wind to stop as the clock was on and she only had 25 seconds to serve for the next point. Azarenka quite comfortably owned the match as she knocked Krejcikova out in the first round with a thumping 6-3, 7-5 victory. She will next face Croatian Donna Vekic in the second round.
Fans slam Barbora Krejcikova for complaining aggressively

Krejcikova complained about the windy conditions that didn’t let her play freely. However, the tennis fans on social media didn’t appreciate this one bit as they attacked the 11th seed with harsh words. They felt the wind has been there for years and it’s a part of the sport that one needs to adapt to. Most felt that her return to the tennis courts has only brought drama with her and were not at all appreciative of her behavior.
Krejcikova would want to leave this behind, as she has the super important and final Grand Slam of the year coming up in New York. She would like to be at her very best at the US Open. Krejcikova will also try to work on strategies that help her counter windy conditions. It’s been a while since the former French Open champion has dominated on the tour.
