Brazil’s tennis has been on the rise as its players make major strides in the sport. Mainly due to their star WTA player, Beatriz Haddad Maia, who has risen significantly in tennis. She is currently ranked No. 13 in the world.
Recently, the 27-year-old extended her heartfelt support to her youngest compatriot, Joao Fonseca, after his recent streak of success. The 17-year-old Brazilian was crowned the 2023 US Open boys champion, and soon he started his journey on the main Tour.
It was not long before the teenager got his first breakthrough, and what better place to achieve the historic feat than your home ground? At the Rio Open, Fonseca was up against Arthur Fils in the first round, where he beat the Frenchman in straight sets. Fonseca won 6-0, 6-4 to record his first ATP tour win on his home ground and his first Top 40 win.
This was a huge win for Brazil, as they got to welcome the highly talented youngster. His compatriot and friend Haddad Maia also revealed to be proud of him and wished him luck in the future.

WTA pro Beatriz Haddad Maia was extremely proud of her compatriot Joao Fonseca after his first ATP Tour win against a top 40 player. Soon, the 17-year-old also entered his first ATP quarterfinals, where he lost.
Nonetheless, the whole of Brazil was proud of the youngster for his incredible feat. Even WTA No. 13 had a few kind words for her compatriot. Haddad Maia expressed her happiness for the youngster but also had a few words of wisdom for the youngster.

Unfortunately, her time in San Diego was rather short, as the 27-year-old faced a first-round loss against Katie Boulter. Despite being seeded No. 2, the Brazilian suffered an early exit.
