Beatriz Haddad Maia has undoubtedly enjoyed an exciting season this year. The 27-year-old has started to establish a significant stronghold on the WTA Tour, bagging several doubles crowns and reserving a semifinal spot at the French Open.
Furthermore, the Brazilian laid claim to her maiden title of the season after clinching the 2023 WTA Elite Trophy. With such drastic improvements in her performance and notable triumphs, the 27-year-old recently made it to the front cover of the Brazilian edition of GQ magazine.
Unlike the usual GQ cover photos of celebrities and numerous artists, Haddad’s photo in the illustrious magazine signifies an embedded message. According to the Brazilian’s official X/Twitter handle, her cover picture consists of clay slipping down her hands, which encapsulates the embracement of her own time on the Tour.

The former World No. 10 started her 2023 season by making an impactful statement, reaching the semifinals of the Abu Dhabi Open. However, her Middle Eastern campaign was cut short after she lost to Belinda Bencic in the tournament’s last four.
Later, Haddad teamed up with Victoria Azarenka to lift her Madrid Open doubles title. The duo downed the American pair of Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff in straight sets to register their victory at the clay-court event.
Beatriz Haddad Maia acknowledges special week in Zhuhai after WTA Elite Trophy victory
Beatriz Haddad Maia recently did justice to her Zhuhai campaign after conquering the WTA Elite Trophy. With this victory, the Brazilian secured her first title of the season, her first victory above the WTA 250 level, and her first one on hard courts since her last recorded triumph at Birmingham in 2022.
The 27-year-old fenced home favorite Qinwen Zheng’s challenge in the event’s summit clash. After a hard-hitting contest of two tie-breaker sets, Haddad concluded the Chinese pro’s run with a score line that read 7-6(11), 7-6(4).
Following her victory over the 21-year-old, Haddad reserved a few words for her triumph during the trophy presentation. The Brazilian attributed her victory to her patience during the testing moments of the match and acknowledged having a “special week” in Zhuhai.
