American tennis’ rising stars Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro stunned the mixed doubles pair of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa to win the 2024 Eisenhower Cup– a Tie Break Tens event. The two Americans played flawless tennis to beat the experienced opponents in Tsitsipas and Badosa.

As the fifth edition of the Eisenhower Cup took center stage before the main draw matches, eight mixed doubles pairs fought for the title and a $200,000 prize money.

The following eight teams competed in a fast-paced, knockout-style single-elimination competition in front of a packed house:

Emma Navarro and Ben Shelton emerged as the champions as they beat Badosa and Tsitsipas 10-8. The young American pair also beat the six other teams to be crowned as the champions of the 2024 Eisenhower Cup.

While the duo played some great tennis, one point from Shelton and Navarro caught the attention of the fans. The second point in the tiebreak was won on the back of a terrific drop shot from Navarro. The 22-year-old stunned Tsitsipas as she cleverly played the shot, keeping the racket really close to her body.

Notably, the prize money earned by Shelton and Navarro will be donated to the charities of their choice per Eisenhower Cup tradition.

Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro will hope to transcend the confidence into singles matches

After beating some of the top players on the tour, Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro will be breaking with confidence. The two American youngsters will now look to carry this confidence into their singles matches.

Ben Shelton, seeded 16th has been given a bye in the first round and stands a chance to face Jakub Mensik or Hong Seong-chan of South Korea. The 21-year-old is expected to sail through and meet Francisco Cerundolo in the third round.

Emma Navarro, on the other hand, is the 23rd seed at the 2024 Indian Wells and thus has been given a bye in the first round. The 22-year-old American rising star might face either compatriot Liv Hovde or Lesia Tsurenko in her first match. If she wins, Navarro will have to play Elina Svitolina in the third round.
