Ben Shelton, the 20-year-old American is under major backlash from fans. This was after a video of him saying he wanted to be the player that no one wants to face. Christopher Eubanks replied by saying even Carlos Alcaraz does not want to face him.  Shelton who had a good run at this year’s Australian Open and made it to the quarter-finals of the event lost to fellow American Tommy Paul cutting his run short at the slam.

Ben Shelton sat down with fellow American Christopher after the UTS (Ultimate Tennis Showdown) to have a quick chat. His boisterous statement was quickly caught on by the tennis fans and started a wave of tweets against them.

One fan pointed out his loss in straight sets against the unseeded Shang Juncheng in the Atlanta Open. Another fan pointed out how hard it is to take Americans seriously. One fan brutally pointed out how he doesn’t move well, can’t play long matches, and he lacks physically on the court while having an inconsistent backhand. 

Ben Shelton set to be America’s next big star?

With Ben joining his other two American star players Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, tennis is looking promising for America. One of the most prominent players to have success in the United States was Andy Roddick who turned pro in 2000 and retired in 2012.

Since then there haven’t been any prominent players on tour. After Taylor and Tiafoe came on tour the sport is looking better and promising for the country.

And now Ben is all set to join fellow Americans as he’s slowly climbing the rankings. He is currently ranked 41 in the ATP rankings and is predicted to break into the top 20 in the next year.
