Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini secured a very important point for Team Europe at the 2022 Laver Cup during the doubles tie. Up against the pair of Alex de Minaur and Jack Sock, the Europeans won the match 7-5, 6-2. Team World however made a comeback in other matches to win the event for the first time.

Djokovic however put on a brilliant display as he returned to action for the first time since winning the 2022 Wimbledon title in July. During the 7th game of the second set, Djokovic was on the serve and hit it across towards de Minaur who returned with a forehand.

After a small exchange of forehands between the two, Sock intercepted to drop a shot for which Djokovic had to go on his backhand. The shot was met by de Minaur’s forehand once again who hit it wide which Djokovic returned with an even bigger forehand which was met by the Australian at the last moment leaving the court open for Djokovic to find the winner as Sock went out of position.

Djokovic‘s shot had everyone in the crowd on their feet including team captain Bjorn Borg who applauded the one-man show of Djokovic during the point. Djokovic closed out the game quickly and the Europeans broke in the next game to claim the game, set and match.

Twitteratis however had a lot to say and admire about Djokovic’s play during the particular game. With everything from serving, defending, attacking and hitting the winner, it was all Djokovic. Berrettini could just watch the game being played as Djokovic managed everything to claim the point.
