The 2019 US Open champion, Bianca Andreescu, in a recent interview, reflected on her journey of playing tennis from a young age. She talked about the challenges she had to go through as a kid while pursuing the sport.
Talking about how she felt ashamed as kids of her age in school used to laugh at the fact that the Canadian was pursuing tennis as a profession, Bianca Andreescu stated:
I only went to school for two or three hours a day. I was ashamed to go to school. I had to bring the bag with rackets, & some kids asked me why I was doing that, they laughed at me. I was ashamed.

Bianca Andreescu further revealed how her parents motivated her to not care about what others thought of her. The Canadian admitted that it was tough for her, but she overcame such hurdles by listening to her parents. As per the former World No. 4 herself, she felt extremely lonely in the initial stages of her career while traveling for tournaments at such a young age.
Speaking about the essential sacrifices made by her parents since her childhood, Bianca Andreescu also mentioned:
Then, my parents sacrificed a lot for me. They took a lot of time off work. That's a big sacrifice. I made sacrifices at school too. I didn't realize it until I was 13-14 years old.
