Bianca Andreescu reveals how her manifestation to win a Grand Slam kept her motivated
Bianca Andreescu
Bianca Andreescu, the 22-year-old player from Canada created history when she became the first player to win the Canadian Open in the last 50 years. She has won only one Grand Slam title in her career and was the first player to win a Grand Slam singles title as a teenager since Maria Sharapova in 2006.
Andreescu defeated the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, Serena Williams, in the finals to win the US Open title in the year 2019 which was her maiden major singles title. The Canadian opened up about always visualizing herself as a Grand Slam champion since she was very young and the power of manifestation kept her motivated and striving for success. She said, “Every day waking up I had a picture of myself holding every Grand Slam title, so I manifested it from a very young age.“
“Just go after your dreams as much as you can and surround yourself with amazing people”: Bianca Andreescu
Bianca Andreescu further revealed about receiving some kind of hate and being mocked for her choice of career that was meant to let her down and it quite impacted her. But she credited her mother to be her motivation factor as she would be advised by her mother to not self-doubt herself at all. She even advised everyone not to be impacted by such negative people but rather should remain positive.
She further added “There were obviously some doubters, you know, I go to school, I’d carry my tennis bag, people would make fun of me, and being a girl, they’re like, You can’t play the sport and stuff like that. And that really brought me down for a bit and my mom always told me not to pay too much attention to people like that. I guess my advice is don’t pay attention to people like that and just go after your dreams as much as you can and surround yourself with amazing people.“
Prior to the US Open victory, she also went on to clinch the title at the Canadian Open in 2019 defeating Williams as the former American player had to retire during the middle of the match citing an injury. Andreescu had faced a third-round exit at the US Open losing to Caroline Garcia in straight sets 6-3,6-2. She has had a fantastic start to her career but being stricken with a lot of injuries put her on the back foot.
