Bianca Andreescu is the first Canadian to win the major title. Andreescu peaked at number four in the world after a stellar performance in 2019. She won the US Open in 2019 defeating the legendary Serena Williams. She also won two more WTA 1000 titles in 2019. Even in the most successful year of her career, she suffered from some shoulder injuries and mid-match retirements.
Bianca’s 2020 season began with more injuries and she was unable to play until the Indian Wells, where she failed to defend her title. Then due to CoVID-19, most of the season was closed off and she again faced a lot of problems with her injuries and made a return 15 months later to the Australian Open 2021, but suffered an upset in the second round. She made it to the final of Indian Wells in 2021 but had to retire mid-match. She was also affected by CoVID-19 but recovered quickly. However, her performance was not improving, as she lost in the fourth round of the US Open 2021 and ended the year ranked 46.
Andreescu was again forced to miss many important tournaments at the beginning of 2022, but she made a return on clay, but her best performance was only a quarterfinal appearance in Rome.

Andreescu has written a book about her childhood and the struggles that had made her consider leaving tennis for good after her 2020-21 struggles. The book is aimed to teach children about tennis, coping with struggles, and meditation, all of the steps that helped Andreescu rediscover her love for tennis. Andreescu has made the book into a picture book so that it would be more child friendly. She also talks about her dog Coco who is a big support system for Bianca.
Andreescu faced many tough moments on the tour in 2022 as well, but she was able to get through some of them quite well. The book is describes as ‘In the first picture book written by and based on real-life tennis star Bianca Andreescu, a young athlete learns how to work through life’s toughest moments through inner strength and meditation. Fans on twitter have shown great support towards the book.
Andreescu is preparing for the grass season as she would look to improve her Wimbledon performances and also try to get her ranking in shape.
