Emma Raducanu has had an injury-plagued phase ever since she won the US Open in 2021 at the mere age of 18 years. She also pulled out of the Billie Jean King Cup, stating that she still needs time to recover from a recent surgery.
Tennis ace Billie Jean King, in an interview, expressed her concern for Emma Raducanu and advised her to take some more time off to return to the court in a fit and healthy manner. She said, “You’ve got to be healthy. If you’re not, you shouldn’t play, so I think they’ve done the right thing this year.” She completely justified the Briton’s gesture of withdrawing from the tournament and agreed with her decision to rest.
For context, Emma Raducanu has already missed out on almost the entire season this year, skipping three of the four Majors. Billie Jean King hopes for her to be healthy and is all praise for the Briton. She mentioned, “She’s a great person. She’s interested in the world around her; she can speak more than one language—she can speak Chinese because her mother’s Chinese. She’s somebody who I think is interesting as a human being.” (H/T: Sky Sports)
Emma Raducanu plans to make a comeback to the sport in the 2024 season. She will look to participate in all the major tournaments and try to have a good and injury-free season. Talking about Emma’s future, Billie Jean King further concluded, “I’m interested in her next chapter, and I want her to be really healthy so she can play tennis, because I know she loves to play. We’ll see how that goes.” She also commended the Briton’s love for the sport as well.
Emma Raducanu will play at an exhibition event in Macau
Emma Raducanu had originally decided to be back in action, participating in the Billie Jean King Cup. However, she is still recovering from surgery and has withdrawn from the tournament. She is, however, making some progress in her fitness, as she is sharing posts on her social media showing how she is regularly hitting the gym to regain her fitness.

The 2021 US Open Champion will play an exhibition event in Macau, where she will face Olympic Champion Belinda Bencic. She has also received an invitation to the ASB Classic next year. Emma Raducanu is hoping to come back to court in the 2024 season, and she is spending her time preparing for just that.
