After winning the first four editions of the Laver Cup, Team Europe has gone into a bit of a slump as they lost the last two editions of the tournament to Team World. In the recent edition of the tournament, Team World, captained by John McEnroe, handed a thumping 13-2 defeat to Team Europe, captained by Bjorn Borg.

Team Europe was deprived of the services of the top-2 pairing of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in this edition of the tournament. However, Borg has announced that he will be heading strong into the next edition of the tournament.

I am super excited to have Carlos join Team Europe in Berlin. I’m leaving no stone unturned for 2024. The goal is to win and having Carlos commit to Team Europe’s cause is a thrilling start to what I anticipate will be an exceptional roster.
Borg said in a statement shared on the official site of the Laver Cup

The two-time Grand Slam singles champion will certainly be a force multiplier for Team Europe. Borg has made an early start to assembling his six-man team in a bid to win back the Laver Cup in its seventh year to be held at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin from September 20–22, 2024. Alcaraz announced.

I appreciate Captain Borg’s confidence in me, and I look forward to teaming up with my rivals in both singles and doubles in Berlin. It means a lot to represent Team Europe at Laver Cup, this is a great honor.

Carlos Alcaraz picks ATP Finals title over year-end World No.1 ranking

After an early exit at the Paris Masters at the hands of Russian pro-Roman Safiullin, World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has his eyes set on the ATP Finals to be played in Turin, Italy. The Spaniard was the second player to qualify for the year-end championship, making his first appearance at the tournament after withdrawing from the last edition.

After the end of the US Open, Alcaraz lost his World No. 1 spot to Novak Djokovic. On being asked to choose between the World No. 1 ranking and the ATP Final win, the Spaniard chose the latter.

If I have to choose I’d say win the ATP Finals, but the two things go hand in hand: if I get a good result in Turin I have a good chance of returning number one. The Finals are a great tournament that I unfortunately missed in 2022. I really want to be there, to give myself a chance,” Alca told the French press.

Alcaraz further expressed his desire to play doubles at next year’s Paris Summer Olympics alongside 22-time Grand Slam champion and Olympic gold medalist Rafael Nadal.
