Basketball legend Michael Jordan recently made it to the Forbes list of America’s richest individuals and became the first professional athlete to achieve this feat. Former German tennis player Boris Becker took to Instagram to applaud the 60-year-old on his achievement, as he shared a poster with the same information on his Instagram story and wrote, “GOAT MJ”.
For the uninitiated, Michael Jordan has always been one of the highest earners among athletes, but he recently sold his minority stake in the NBA team Charlotte Hornets for $3 billion, which increased his net worth massively and took it to $3 billion.
With this, he is now 379th on the Forbes 400 list, which is the definitive ranking of the wealthiest Americans. Elon Musk is currently first on the list, and he is followed by Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Warren Buffet, and Larry Page, respectively, to name a few.
Jordan has been a great businessman since his time as a player. Despite being arguably the greatest basketball player to grace the NBA, he only earned $90 million in salaries throughout his career. However, he earned approximately $2.4 billion from his corporate deals with brands like Nike, Hanes, and Gatorade. Apart from that, he’s the special advisor and investor of the sports-betting firm DraftKings. That’s not all, Jordan also owns a NASCAR team since 2020.

Boris Becker, who shared the post on his Instagram story, has called Michael Jordan the GOAT before too. When Michael Jordan gave his emotional speech after the tragic loss of Kobe Bryant, Becker shared a video of that on his Instagram story too, with the caption “The GOAT MJ.”
Boris Becker takes a dig at Gerard Pique for destroying Davis Cup

Boris Becker recently slammed FC Barcelona legend Gerard for destroying the Davis Cup by changing its age-old format and turning it into a boring tournament. Pique’s company, Kosmos, signed a long-term deal with the ITF in 2019 to organize the Davis Cup. The earlier knockout format was changed following that. However, it did not work out, and the ITF ended the deal earlier this year.
“I hope they have a moment of lucidity and decide in favor of tennis. A quick change, returning to the old format with home and away matches. That’s the real Davis Cup, that’s the special atmosphere,” Boris Becker said. Lately, the fan turnout for the Davis Cup has been really low, and players like Stan Wawrinka have also blamed the format change for it.
