Nick Kyrgios is not the one to hold his words back when sharing his opinion and he had the same attitude when the Australian compared the previous generation of tennis players with the current generation. Kyrgios claimed that the game was slow in the times of Boris Becker and Pete Sampras. He took his comparison to another level by claiming that Novak Djokovic would have eaten Sampras alive had they played against each other.

Although Kyrgios said he did not want to demean any player, but stuck with his analogy. Now, such a bold claim was always going to put Kyrgios into hot waters and it came in the form of a backlash from Boris Becker.

The former German ace did not mince his words when he questioned the credibility of Kyrgios’ claims, saying that the Australian has never won a Grand Slam title. Becker also claimed that Kyrgios hates the sport.

Nick makes a lot of noise about tennis lately!?! Why does he speak about a sport he apparently hates …fact-check Nick has never won a major championship as a player or coach( yes doubles 1) so where is any credibility coming from?

Trying to compare generations… Laver v Federer , Borg v Nadal , Sampras v Djokovic!?! I am not even gonna mention McEnroe, Conners, Lendl, Agassi, Courier, Edberg, Wilander, Kuerten, Bruguera, Rafter, Hewitt and many more …speak to your @OnlyFans about many things but tennis.
Boris Becker suggested Nick Kyrgios

It is worth mentioning that in an interview with The Athletic, the Australian compared the previous generation with the current generation and pointed out the differences. The Australian said that while a 122 mph serve was considered too fast back then, players consistently serve at 130 mph these days. He then compared Pete Sampras’ game with Djokovic’s.

The Australian claimed that Sampras’ best serve would have been too slow for Djokovic and the Serbian would have eaten the American alive had they played against each other. Kyrgios also cited the 2001 US Open final between Lleyton Hewitt and Sampras where the former had troubled the latter and eventually won the game.
