Former tennis champion and legendary coach Boris Becker recently made headlines for his dismissive response to players who complain a lot on the field. He relates it to his prison experience and laughs at those comments.

Recently, players have been complaining about the different kinds of pressures on the court. They have faced issues ranging from playing conditions to lounge food. Boris Becker had a few words for such people.

I'll never forget. When I hear players complain about the pressure they experience on a break point, I laugh. When I hear players complaining about the quality of the food in the lounge, I laugh.
revealed Becker to Welovetennis.

Continuing further, he added:

When I hear players complaining about training conditions on the courts, I laugh. It doesn't mean anything when you've been there. The first night in prison, you don't sleep, any more than you sleep the last night.

The German coach had been to prison back in 2022 for tax fraud; however, he was freed due to an early release for a foreigner. Becker shares that the pressure he felt in prison is not even comparable to the complaints of the players.

Boris Becker becomes a huge plus point for youngster Holger Rune

After a brutal 8-year prison sentence, Boris Becker returns to coaching as he gets appointed as the new coach for Holger Rune. The Danish youngster was not at his best for most of the season and kept on losing in the early rounds, but even since he started getting coached by Becker, the Dane has started playing his best tennis, which included facing Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters.

I’ve come back from almost nowhere, from a period where I was losing all the time in the first round to a big match like this against Novak, close to my best level.

Holger Rune said in the interview praising his coach

Becker had become the coach with one goal in mind, which was to make Rune a formidable opponent for the others, and surprisingly, Rune has returned with a form fans did not expect from him.

As a previous Grand Slam winner and former coach of a multiple-time Grand Slam winner, Becker knows how to train Rune to win Grand Slams and fans will be eager to see the Boris effect on the youngsters as time goes by.
