Nick Kyrgios, the 27-year-old Australian is super popular in the tennis world and it is not just because of his skills on the court, Kyrgios is infamous for the antics that he pulls off on the court and off it as well. Giving cheeky replies to the media, getting into arguments with the umpires, and dealing with hecklers, Kyrgios has been surrounded by controversies for most of his career.

The Australian professional has enjoyed a successful 2022, and managed to reach the finals of the 2022 Wimbledon but his dreams were crushed after he lost to Novak Djokovic who won the 21st grand slam title of his career. Kyrgios also won the 2022 Citi Open after defeating Nishioka in the finals.

Currently competing in the US Open, Nick Kyrgios has managed to make it to the third round of the tournament at the Flushing Meadows. Kyrgios beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round and Benjamin Bonzi in the second round of the US Open. The highlight of the match against Bonzi was Kyrgios spitting toward his players box in an act that was branded ‘disgraceful’ by fans all over social media.

As a result of his disrespectful behavior, Nick Kyrgios has been fined AU$11,000 for “spitting and audible obscenities” in the second round match of the 2022 US Open, Kyrgios prevailed over Bonzi by 7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in a three-hour long game that was filled with controversies and outbursts from the Australian professional.

Kyrgios was also seen shouting towards his player box, and once he was found complaining that someone in the crowd was smoking marijuana. It has not been an easy tournament for Kyrgios so far despite winning both of his matches, there are a lot of factors that seem to be hindering Nick Kyrgios.

After progressing into the third round of the event, Nick Kyrgios will be facing J.J Wolf and will be looking to make his way into the fourth round.
