Since beating world number two Daniil Medvedev in the first round at the ongoing 2023 French Open, Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth Wild made global headlines. Along with this, his impressive game on the red dirt has been marred by the reports surrounding his former partner Thayane Lima’s accusations of domestic violence.

Though he managed to avoid giving an explanation to the press in this tournament, the international media undoubtedly won’t spare him until they hear him speak of those accusations. And now, a quote from a Brazilian newspaper, O Globo, emerged which seems to make things worse for Seyboth Wild after the paper reported it this week. The quote read: “My family on my mother’s side is Nazi“. And then TV Globo’s revelation based on Whatsapp messages between Lima and Seyboth Wild is also shocking.

My great-grandfather, my mother’s father’s father’s father…was Hitler’s predecessor….He was the one who brought him over from Austria and taught Hitler the life.” Seyboth Wild also included photos of his great-grandfather standing beside Hitler.

In those Whatsapp chats between Lima and Seyboth Wild, the latter talked about how he was thankful to her for showing him a better direction and confessed that he spend thousands of dollars on alcohol and parties. But despite that, according to Lima, Seyboth Wild was violent with her and had even twisted her finger under the table during dinner with her parents.

The 23-year-old seemed frustrated during his match against Yoshihito Nishioka in the third round, which he lost 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. And in the round, it was rather an easy win over Guido Pella, where he lost only the second set 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. And the reason he ended up not talking about the accusation is only because he did not appear at the customary press conference.

ATP communications director Nicola Arzani told Claytenis the reason behind the no-show of Seyboth Wild at the customary press conference for the second consecutive time. Arzani said as there were no requests from the international media, the Brazilian did not show up for the presser.

Seyboth Wild had also sent a statement to O Globo regarding the allegations. He wanted to clarify that, as the criminal proceeding is underway in secrecy, he cannot comment on it, make statements, or expose conversations.
