As Monday rushed in and the ATP rankings were recalculated, Novak Djokovic had begun his 391st week at the World No.1 spot. He currently holds the record for the most number of weeks at World No.1. He is only followed by Swiss Maestro Roger Federer with a gap of 80 weeks. Federer held on to the World No.1 spot for 310 weeks.

Following the completion of the US Open 2023, the Serb rose to No.1 in the rankings once again, cruising past Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. However, not only did he become the World No.1 once again, but he also became the first player in the Open Era to win 24 Grand Slams. He also holds the joint all-time record for most number of Slams along with Australian legend, Margaret Court. He has also been the year-end No.1 for a record 7 years.

While the 24-time Grand Slam champion holds the record for the most number of weeks at World No.1, it does not seem that he will stop any time soon. He is on the path to reach a staggering 400 weeks at the top step. However, it currently seems like there is no direct threat to his crown. The World’s No.2 ranked player is Carlos Alcaraz. While he might seem like the most viable candidate to challenge the Serb for his throne, it does not seem like it would happen any time soon. The Spaniard is currently at 8,535 points in the ranking with Djokovic at 11,795 points. These two players have a huge 3,260-point gap between the two.

Djokovic is currently representing his country at the Davis Cup, hoping for an appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympic games. The next major point-scoring tournament is the Rolex Shanghai Masters. Unfortunately, the Serb has announced his withdrawal from the tournament. However, this tournament will not be a threat to the Serb in any way. Currently, it seems more than likely that the 36-year-old will reach 400 weeks on top of the pedestal.

Djokovic is always looking for something to prove says Stefanos Tsitsipas

Novak Djokovic has shown that he has the best numbers compared to all other tennis players. He has created and rewritten all the records there are to break. However, according to Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Serb is always looking to prove something.

If we go by numbers, Novak Djokovic is definitely the best. He breaks one record after the other. And he keeps the thirst, while he has nothing left to prove,” said Tsitsipas. There is some truth to the Greek’s words. Djokovic has indeed shown to the tennis world that there is in fact nothing more for him to prove.

The Greek also mentioned that Djokovic is never happy. He said that he is always trying to prove something to someone. Tsitsipas also revealed that the Serb always seems like he is trying to get revenge.
