“Can someone explain?” Eugenie Bouchard gets pranked with a bikini photo on her official VanOpen credentials

Eugenie Bouchard

Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard is one of the most popular players on the WTA tour. Despite not being active, she is a huge Instagram sensation and is very popular amongst the fans for her looks. She hadn’t played a competitive match since March 2021 until she decided to once again start playing during this North American hard court swing.

She played the Odlum Brown VanOpen this week in Vancouver, a WTA 125k event, where she competed in both Singles and Doubles. In Singles, she lost her opening round match to Dutchwoman Arianne Hartono in straight sets 2-6,2-6 while in Doubles, she reached the quarterfinals with Kayla Cross before losing to the top seeds.

But ahead of her first match, a very hilarious incident took place with the Canadian. She was left startled after the tournament used a photo of her in a bikini instead of a normal headshot. The swimsuit pic was an old one that was clicked in 2018. Bouchard though took it in a very light way and candidly asked for an explanation from the officials on Instagram. “Can someone from VanOpen credential office explain pls??” Bouchard questioned with a laughing emoji.

Eugenie Bouchard was out of action for 1.5 years due to surgery on her right shoulder. The recovery and rehab process took almost 6 months in which she couldn’t even pick up a tennis racket. Bouchard grabbed eyeballs back in 2014 when she stunned the world by reaching the final in Wimbledon but ever since then, she has had to deal with a lot of injuries.

The Canadian has entered the US Open draw and will play the qualifying. Given her current form and match practice, it looks very unlikely that she will qualify for the main draw.
