Carlos Alcaraz already put it all on line to win the Laver Cup back for captain Bjorn Borg

The seventh edition of the Laver Cup ended with Team Europe’s loss for the second time in a row. After his team’s humiliating loss, team captain Bjorn Borg vowed to reclaim the Cup in the tournament next year. Recently, World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz stated that he’ll be putting in all his efforts to help Borg in his mission.
In the 2023 edition of the tournament, Team World handed Team Europe a 13-2 defeat as they successfully defended their title. While Team World featured several top seeds like Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz, the top 2-ranked players on the ATP Rankings list, World No. 1, Novak Djokovic, and No. 2, Carlos Alcaraz, were missing from the line-up.

Carlos Alcaraz will be joining Bjorn Borg’s Team Europe for the team’s upcoming showdown in Berlin in 2024.
In a statement on the official site of the Laver Cup, Borg shared that Alcaraz will be joining the team next year as he makes his debut at the event. Sharing Borg’s excitement, the 20-year-old Wimbledon winner appreciated his coach’s faith in him.
I appreciate Captain Borg’s confidence in me, and I look forward to teaming up with my rivals in both singles and doubles in Berlin.Carlos Alcaraz said via Lavercup.com
Continuing further, he added:
It means a lot to represent Team Europe at Laver Cup, this is a great honor. I will do whatever is asked of me to win back the Cup for Team Europe. I can’t wait to hear who will be joining me on the team next September.
The eighth edition of the Laver Cup will be held in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin from September 20–22, 2024.
Carlos Alcaraz was seen playing “chess” in public before debuting at the ATP Finals in Turin
2-times Grand Slam champion, Carlos Alcaraz will be playing at the ATP Finals in Turin, Itlay, which is set to begin on Sunday. Before his match, however, Alcaraz was seen engaging himself in a round of Chess in a public tournament.

Alcaraz later told the press that playing chess helps him be faster in his games on the court as well. Alcaraz stated:
It helps me to be faster mentally, to observe plays, to see the movement you want to make, the strategy.
The young prodigy also talked about the similarities between tennis and chess.
