Carlos Alcaraz has already been deemed the next big thing by the tennis world. His rise at just the age of 20 has been sublime, achieving feats that most players can only dream of. Carlos Alcaraz is currently taking part in the 2023 French Open. He faced Taro Daniel in the second round of the French Open and came out victorious.

Alcaraz is one of the favorites to win the men’s singles division of the 2023 Roland Garros. The division has been dominated by Rafael Nadal, who won it 14 times in the last 18 years. In the post-match interview after the second-round match, Alcaraz talked about being himself and not just a mere copy of any tennis legend.

“There are people who say that I have blows from Rafa, blows from Djokovic, blows from Federer, because in the end, it is what they have been used to seeing for 20 years, right?” said Alcaraz.

He expressed how he has been watching the big three all his life, and surely some inspiration might have been taken from them. But he believes that he is 100% himself. “But I do not define myself or have not sought to have anyone’s blows, but simply is 100% Alcaraz and that is what I like to think that I am 100% and not the copy of any other player’s blows,” he added.

The tennis Twitter saw this as an opportunity to point out why the comparisons were just right and Alcaraz kind of copies the players. Alcaraz has been seen arranging bottles in the court, just like Rafael Nadal does. Further instances of Alcaraz copying bits of quirky behaviors shown by the big three have been abundant.

The tennis world seems to be united about the fact that Alcaraz is definitely influenced by his compatriot Rafael Nadal. Nadal is a hero in the eyes of anyone wanting to win the Roland Garros. ‘The King of Clay’ title belongs to Nadal, and his staggering record in the Roland-Garros is untouched. Carlos Alcaraz is still very young and has a lot to learn in terms of being his own self.

Some fans are even pointing out how Alcaraz could have been watching tennis for 20 years as he is just 20 years old. Most people at the age of 20 are not mature enough to develop a concrete personality. It is only natural for such a young soul to copy some actions of someone he considers his hero. People grow and change with age, both mentally and physically. Alcaraz has a lot of time to refine himself both as a person and a player.
