Carlos Alcaraz reached the finals of the Hamburg Open defeating Slovak Alex Molcan in 7-6(2),6-1 in an hour and 33 minutes semifinal match. In the finals, he will be facing Lorenzo Musetti of Italy on Sunday, 24th of July. He has won eight straight sets in a row, only once dropping a set in his opening match against Nicola Kuhn in the race to the finals.

Alcaraz had a lead of 5-3 in the first set but some unforced errors made it into a tie-breaker set. He composed himself back and won the tie-breaker. The first set itself went for an hour and five minutes. The Spaniard broke early in the first game of the second set taking the game totally under his control and finishing off the game in the next 28 minutes. He finished the match with 32 winners to 14 unforced errors out of which 9 errors came off the forehand.

Carlos Alcaraz has already won 4 titles-Rio Open, Miami Open, Barcelona Open, and Madrid Open this year which gave him much-needed confidence. He is looking strong to achieve another title at the Hamburg Open at such a young age. The Spaniard has won 24 of his last 26 matches on clay and 37 of his last 41 overall matches.

Upon reaching the final, he broke his personal best record by making his debut into the Top 5 of the ATP rankings, his career-best rankings till now. He has a record of 14-0 in ATP 500 events this year. He has a chance of reaching another career-high position into the 4th spot if he wins the Hamburg European Open title on Sunday, passing Stefanos Tsitsipas.

If he manages to win at the Hamburg Open, he will another feature to his cap by becoming the first player ever to win five ATP titles in a year. Currently, he is tied up with his idol and fellow countryman Rafael Nadal, who has also won four ATP titles in a year.
