Carlos Alcaraz was recently bested by Novak Djokovic in the finals of the Cincinnati Open. However, the Spaniard has still managed to break records and create milestones.

His succession to the finals has made him the first player born in the 2000s to surpass 20 million dollars’ worth of prize money. When he entered the tournament, he had an aggregate of $19,810,007. The final is being touted as one of the most thrilling matches of the Masters tournament. Some have gone so far as to argue that the Cincinnati final was superior to the Wimbledon final. Djokovic saved a championship point to mark his victory amidst the scorching temperature of 35 degrees Celsius. The match saw Novak Djokovic make a dramatic comeback by converting on his fifth opportunity. The 3 hours and 49 minutes match ended with a score line of 5-7, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (4).

In the ATP, World No. 2 tops the list for the most amount of money collected through price money. The Serb has accumulated a whopping sum of $172,281,484.

Rafael Nadal, who has been inactive this year due to injury, has still landed himself the second spot on the list. His inaction did not make a dent in his legendary career. He has a total of $134,640.19. The third person on the list is former World No. 1 Roger Federer, who recently retired but has left a monumental legacy in tennis. He trails Nadal by a small margin with $130,594,339.

The fourth person on the list is also part of the ‘Big Four” group. The Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has also made quite an impact with his victories, which have amounted to prize money of $64,000,366.

It will be interesting to see other players, apart from the big four, try to compete with these numbers.
