Carlos Alcaraz confesses of not being fully fit before the 2023 Paris Masters, calls the season ‘DEMANDING’

Spanish tennis rising star Carlos Alcaraz has confessed about not being fully fit. Alcaraz has admitted that he is playing the Paris Masters despite not being fully fit. The 20-year-old, however, said that he feels better and is hopeful of a good result at the ATP 1000 tournament. 

Notably, Carlos Alcaraz missed the ATP 500 tournament in Basel due to injury concerns in his left foot. A medical statement revealed that Alcaraz is suffering from an inflammation of the sole of his left foot and problems in his gluteal muscle. However, Alcaraz announced his return to the tour as he confirmed his participation in the last major tournament this season.

But now, as it seems from Alcaraz’s statements, the Spaniard is not fully fit. In an interview with Spanish publication Marca, Alcaraz has revealed the issues with his fitness. The 20-year-old said that he would be lying if he claimed to be 100% fit. Alcaraz attributed his fitness concerns to the back-to-back tournaments on the tour.

I'm not going to say that I'm 100%, that would be a lie at this time of year. After a long season, everyone has physical problems. I feel some pain, but I have recovered well this week and I arrive with a good feeling, well enough to be able to achieve a good result.

Carlos Alcaraz has made peace with ‘demanding’ season

Carlos Alcaraz also talked about the ATP season becoming more demanding as compared to the previous years. However, the Spaniard says he has made his peace with it and wants to compete with whatever he has.

In the end, we have to play with what we have, it has been a very demanding season and problems appear . It is normal, we are doing well, with confidence and playing at a high level. 
Carlos Alcaraz says about the ATP season

Talking about his chances to win the Paris Masters, Alcaraz said that winning the tournament is his inly objective wherever he plays. Also, looking at the prospect of being the year-end No.1, Alcaraz said he has to win the remaining two tournaments- the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals.

The Spaniard denied all the claims about Novak Djokovic being the outright favorite considering the Serbian’s record in France. Alcaraz feels the field is wide open and anyone can win the tournament, citing Italian ace Jannik Sinner and Russian ace Daniil Medvedev‘s examples.

About his relationship with Djokovic, Alcaraz said it is pleasant. The 20-year-old revealed that Djokovic does not give him advice and instead they talk about other things than the game.
