Alcaraz heads into Wimbledon as World No. 1 with 7675 points. He has been a tennis highlight since his debut. Even when pressed into a corner, his exceptional talent and maturity shine through. His tremendous serve is supplemented by a powerful forehand and consistently precise backhands, as well as an aggressive style of tennis. He is, however, still establishing his footing on the grass.

In his only two Wimbledon outings, the Spaniard advanced to the second and fourth rounds. However, having won the warm-up tournament in Queens, there are signs of progress. Following are the possible scenarios in which Alcaraz can stay No. 1 after the event:

  • Alcaraz wins the tournament.
  • Reaches the final and loses it against someone other than Djokovic.
  • He loses in the semifinals, Djokovic does not reach the final and Medvedev does not win the tournament.
  • He falls in the quarterfinals, Djokovic does not reach the semifinals and Medvedev does not win the tournament.

Djokovic has won three titles in 2023, two of which were Major titles at the Australian Open and French Open. He’s struggled elsewhere, implying that the Serb saves his best for when it matters most.

Since 2016, Novak has not lost a difficult match at Wimbledon. In 2017, he was cut short due to an elbow injury. There have been no defeats since then. With a win at SW19 two weeks later, he will have the most Grand Slams in the Open Era for either a man or a woman, surpassing Serena Williams. Following are the possible scenarios in which Djokovic can end No. 1 after the event:

  • Djokovic needs to reach at least the third round to surpass Alcaraz in ranking points.
  • Alcaraz loses in the first round.
  • If he reaches the fourth round, Djokovic will regain the no. 1 ranking if he is able to go one round further than Alcaraz.

Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev is back on the grass court after a year’s ban. He has not much experience on the grass court, only reaching the fourth round for the first time in 2021 at Wimbledon. Prior to that, he had been ousted in the third or second rounds of the tournament.

Regardless, he is a tennis powerhouse, showcasing remarkable skills with his powerful serves, precise groundstrokes, exceptional court coverage, and strategic shot placement, which makes him a formidable force on the court. Following are the possible scenarios in which Medvedev can end No. 1 after the event:

  • Medvedev wins the tournament.
  • Alcaraz fails to reach the fourth round.
  • Djokovic fails to reach the quarter-finals.
