World No.2, Carlos Alcaraz, is one of the best players on the ATP circuit despite being only 20 years of age. The former World No.1 is only the second Spanish player to claim a Wimbledon title after Rafael Nadal with his win at the event this year. Alcaraz ousted 24-time Grand Slam champ Novak Djokovic to claim the prestigious title this season.
Alcaraz had earlier declared that he would be taking part in the Swiss Indoors tournament and would be skipping the Open in Vienna. However, recently, the Spanish ace announced that he will be opting out of the Indoor event in Basel, Switzerland owing to a foot injury.

According to a claim by the Austrian daily, Der Standard, Alcaraz and his team demanded no less than 750,000 euros for the 20-year-old to make an appearance at the Erst Bank Open event. This drew the Spanish ace criticism from several tennis fans and enthusiasts who called the Spaniard’s team ‘gluttonous’ for their alleged demand.
The ATP 500 event, Erste Bank Open 2023, will be held over 7 days, starting on the 23rd of October. The event will see the presence of several elite players, who will make an appearance at the event including defending champion and World No.3, Daniil Medvedev. Five players from the top ten ATP-ranked professionals will be playing at the event, including Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Alexander Zverev.
