Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz has his eyes on the Wimbledon title this year despite Serbian World No.2 Novak Djokovic‘s brilliant form getting continued on the other half of the draw. Alcaraz, who is scheduled to play Matteo Berrettini, one of the best grass court players on the tour, in the pre-quarterfinals, is aware of the challenges ahead to win his maiden Wimbledon title.

Before the match result of Alexander Zverev vs Matteo Berrettini’s third-round fixture, Alcaraz said, “Well, not only tennis fans, sports fans want the final. Myself as well, honestly. I have I think three rounds ahead. I’m really focused on the next round. Is Berrettini or Zverev. Both players have great tennis on grass. Is going to be really tough one. But obviously my dream is play a final here. Even better is Novak.”

Alcaraz had to deal with mental pressure and cramps when he last met Djokovic, in the semi-finals of the French Open. He will certainly be looking to be more ready, both mentally and physically, if he can go all the way to the finals to meet the seven times Wimbledon champion on the other side of the net.

The Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz booked his spot in the fourth round after a hard-fought win over Nicolas Jarry in round 3. He lost a set as well in this difficult match-up before closing out the match before going to the decider. The final score was 6-3, 6-7(6-8), 6-3, 7-5. Next up for Alcaraz is a clash with former runner-up here-Matteo Berrettini, who looks to be in fine touch after months of injury setbacks and early round tournament exits.

Alcaraz will have to be more focused on his service games and go more into the backhand side of the Italian hammer in the next round to have better chances. These two have played thrice before. Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 2-1 but in a Grand Slam match, Berrettini was able to get over this Spaniard. It was in the Australian Open 2022 fourth round.

Novak Djokovic, on the other hand, is cruising past through each round, playing better tennis day by day. It is going to be extremely hard for anyone to beat this Djokovic on Centre Court, where he hasn’t lost a match for 10 straight years now.
