British tennis player Dan Evans was seen breaking his racket out of frustration during his Round 3 match against World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the ongoing US Open. The incident took place after a brilliant rally between the two players, which ended with Alcaraz taking away the point and angering Evans. He was understandably frustrated by losing the point after trying so hard and thus he broke his racket on the court itself.
Alcaraz is known for the composure that he maintains during sets, especially in crucial rallies, and that is exactly what happened in the match against Evans. It is a big bummer when a player can not win a point even after traveling the entire court so many times because the opponent is just too perfect, and that is what happened with Evans.
For the match in question, Carlos Alcaraz had been in control since the very beginning. He won the first two sets without any difficulty at all. Evans made a comeback in the third set, which he won. However, it caused no problem at all as Alcaraz won the fourth set again to seal the deal and take home the win.
With this, Carlos Alcaraz has now qualified for the Round of 16 of the 2023 US Open where he will be facing Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi. 22-year-old Arnaldi is a talented youngster who is on the rise currently but he is not expected to be a match against Carlos Alcaraz.
Carlos Alcaraz’s team hands him a pill during his Round 3 match against Dan Evans
Carlos Alcaraz apparently fell ill during his Round 3 match against Dan Evans. Thus, during the match, one of the members of his team was seen handing a glass bottle filled with pills to one of the ball kids, who carried it to Alcaraz, who was sitting on the courtside bench.
However, he was criticized for the same by many fans on the internet, as it seemed shady. Moreover, Novak Djokovic often gets criticized for getting drinks from his box during matches and is often highly criticized for that. Thus, Djokovic fans did not spare Alcaraz upon getting this opportunity.
