World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev has been enjoying himself at the ongoing ATP Finals targeting his second title, having won the tournament way back in the year 2020. In his first match against Andrey Rublev, he picked up a great victory beating his countrymate by a scoreline of 6-4, 6-2, and will look to extend his good form when he takes on Alexander Zverev on Wednesday.

After the match, Medvedev gave his view on the recent form of another ATP Finals title contender and Spanish hotshot, Carlos Alcaraz. Medvedev stated that Alcaraz is not the player he was a couple of months before and feels that he has gone slow.

He also went on to say that tennis is a fast sport nowadays and these things are not new for any star. Hence, the Russian expects the World No. 2 to come back to his original best in the future.

Medvedev said:

If you would ask me two or three months ago, for sure. Now, you know… tennis is a very, very tricky sport. And at this moment, for whatever reason, we feel that Carlos plays just a little bit slower. He does not have the same confidence he had throughout the whole year. This can happen to everyone.

Medvedev had made a very brave remark about Carlos Alcaraz’s current form standing by the youngster, saying that things like this can happen to every single player in the sport. Medvedev also drew links between Novak Djokovic with Alcaraz by bringing up the topic of how uncertain and inconsistent the Serbian was during his early days.

Medvedev said,

This even happened to Novak [Djokovic] when he was younger. So the question is, how fast is he going to recover? Is it going to be in this tournament or next year?

The Russian star feels that Alcaraz will have to keep on working on himself thereby not losing faith and keep on trusting on the process.
