Spanish tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz is ready and all geared up for the 2024 Australian Open and he has high hopes for himself. The 20-year-old is already thinking about playing in the final against Novak Djokovic. Alcaraz said that he hopes to better his performance from the 2023 season.

I had a great off-season. Hope my 2024 can be as good as 2023. Reach the final and play Novak Djokovic. He is a 10-time champ here. Playing him on Laver Arena would be special. I want that.
Carlos Alcaraz said ahead of his first match at the 2024 AUstralian Open.

It is worth mentioning that Alcaraz enjoys a great rivalry with Djokovic. The two players produced two epic matches- the Wimbledon Final and the Cincinnati Masters Final- in the 2023 season. The duo is expected to produce another thriller at the year’s first Grand Slam.

Carlos Alcaraz brushes aside talks of lack of preparation

The Spanish ace also talked about the lack of preparation ahead of as big a tournament as the Australian Open. As Carlos Alcaraz last played at the 2023 ATP Finals and also lost to Alex de Minaur in the charity match ahead of the main draw, concerns are being raised about his lack of game time.

However, the 20-year-old is least bothered about it. Alcaraz claims that he is one of those players who do not rely much on game time before a tournament.

I think I'm a guy who doesn't need so much competition before a big tournament. Obviously (it) always helps (but) I think I'm prepared to do a good thing here in the Grand Slam.
