Carlos Alcaraz was honored with the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year award in Paris, becoming the fourth ATP Tour player to receive the accolade after Marat Safin (2001), Rafael Nadal (2006), and Andy Murray (2013). The award ceremony also featured other notable nominees, including Elena Rybakina, the Moroccan football team, figure skater Nathan Chen, and field star Tobi Amusan.

The Laureus World Sports Awards, established in 1999, is an annual event that recognizes outstanding athletes and teams, honoring their sporting triumphs of the year. Carlos Alcaraz had a sensational last year, winning two ATP Masters 1000 titles in Madrid and Miami. He also lifted his maiden Grand Slam trophy at the US Open and ended the season ranked as World No.1.

While accepting the award, the World No.2 gave due credit to his incredible team and family, who supported him during his tough times. He was nothing but grateful for the prestigious accolade and congratulated the other nominees for the award.

The tennis world also applauded the Spaniard for his achievement and called his win the ‘well deserved’ one.

Alcaraz won his second consecutive Madrid Open title after defeating Jan-Lennard Struff in a thriller. He also claimed the Barcelona Open title by registering a straight-sets win over Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Carlos Alcaraz is excited to play in Rome after his recent triumph in the Madrid Open. The 20 years-old missed the Italian Open last year due to an ankle injury. His debut in Rome will move him up in the rankings and reclaim the World No.1 spot from Novak Djokovic.

The Spaniard retained his Madrid Open title after defeating the lucky loser Jan-Lennard Struff on Sunday. He also won the Barcelona Open final after he got the better of Stefanos Tsitsipas. With back-to-back titles, he depicts to be fully motivated and in perfect form to present his best for the upcoming French Open.

“What I am achieving is something big. I just have won my 10th title, my fourth Masters 1000, back-to-back titles here in Madrid and very close to reclaiming the number one world spot. It’s a special moment and I’m very proud of what I am accomplishing. The work I’m putting in,” he said at the press conference.

The World No.2 voiced that he has the ability to deliver the best in tough moments as he works best under pressure.“I know I have an ability to play good in the important moments. I am a player who grows under pressure, in the big stage, and I like to do different things in those moments. To adapt to what my opponents bring to me,” he further added.

Alcaraz joined his compatriot Rafael Nadal to become the only player to win the Madrid Open back-to-back. He also achieved the Indian Wells Masters title after delivering a game of electrifying tennis against Daniil Medvedev.
