Spanish ace Carlos Alcaraz in the last 12 months has made it to most headlines for his excellent display of court play. However, in recent days he is in the news for a lot of the off-court drama. A lot of that has happened at the recently concluded Toronto Masters.

Alcaraz, out of frustration, threw his racket after losing to Tommy Paul. It was something not many expected from World No. 1. However, that was not it. He was also seen coming up with some more interesting stuff for the camera.

Just before his quarter-final against Paul, the Spaniard was seen cycling in the locker room. He was sitting with his arms folded. He possibly was also seeing some match on the locker room television. Soon Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was seen walking from behind. Fokina called his Davis Cup teammate and showed him the middle finger.

In reply, Alcaraz also laughed and did the same. The Davis Cup teammates from team Spain shared a rather unusual greeting and the tennis world couldn’t stop laughing. The Spaniard is just 20 but, has a great set of friends and fans already with his excellent tennis on display. Unfortunately, the day didn’t pan out great for Spaniard as he lost in three sets to Paul in the evening.

After an unsatisfactory run at the Canadian Open, Carlos Alcaraz will eye the Cincinnati Masters as the event to prepare himself for the upcoming US Open. After an unbeaten run on the grass with titles in Queens and Wimbledon, Alcaraz will want to get that form back to hard courts. However, he faces a stiff challenge in the form of Jordan Thompson.

The Aussie has looked good in recent times and can give Alcaraz a good run for his money. The one big issue for the Spaniard in Toronto was his inability to stay in long rallies. Hubert Hurkacz and Tommy Paul exploited that and made sure they put pressure on the Spaniard. The only question then remains is whether will he be able to overcome that and get physically fit to defend his US Open crown.
