Carlos Alcaraz breaks silence over injury concerns after winning first title since Wimbledon 2023 win over Novak Djokovic
Alcaraz is now the youngest to successfully defend his title at the Indian Wells Masters.

Carlos Alcaraz beat Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to repeat the Indian Wells Masters’ win for the second time. After a 2023 clash in the finals, Alcaraz did one better in 2024, beating the Russian again.
Despite a weak start, the Spaniard managed to find his rhythm early and posed a comeback in the first set to cover the games he had lost. Soon enough, Alcaraz was up and running at the finals of the Indian wells. He produced shots from almost every angle, leaving Medvedev questioning his tactics.
Soon, there was no scope of a comeback for the Russian, who was down a set and a double break, and it was Alcaraz who lifted the Indian Wells trophy for the second consecutive time. It was his first title win since the great Wimbledon match in 2023 to upset Novak Djokovic. With this win, Alcaraz shut down all the noise of criticism and even answered his ankle injury concerns.
I had a lot of doubts about my ankle in the week before the tournament. I was not feeling well when practicing with top players. But then I started to feel better and I'm really happy to win this tournament againSaid Alcaraz in the post-match interview.
There were a lot of concerns about his ankle injury, especially after he withdrew from the Rio Open. Heading into the Indian Wells, even Alcaraz had doubts about his physical fitness, which was all cleared. He moved around even better despite the scare, speaking volumes about his confidence.

20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz got his name etched on the walls of California as he beat Daniil Medvedev to secure his second consecutive Indian Wells title. He joined a list of legends to have won two Indian Wells titles and even surpassed Novak Djokovic to become the youngest player to win five 1000 titles before the age of 21.
After a shaky start to 2024, Alcaraz is finally back on track, as he revealed to have gained confidence en route to the title win. He swatted away all doubts revolving around his performances with this win, as he heads into the Miami Open with immense confidence.
So many doubts before the tournament. I was getting more confident after every match. Obviously, winning tournaments help a lot coming into the next ones. Winning a Masters 1000 event is a really difficult coo of tournament to win. It gives you extra motivation to keep going, extra confidence for Miami right now, and for what’s next. For me it’s amazing to lift the trophy again.said Alcaraz during the post-match interview.
With this win, Alcaraz closed out the first chapter of the Sunshine Double as he heads into the next, riding with a lot of confidence. Though he has to repeat the same process yet again, Alcaraz would eye a spot in history by winning the Double.
