The 2023 Wimbledon Championships is finally coming down to its business ends and what better than to have the top two seeded players battle it all out for the golden trophy in the finale. After weeks of hard work and determination, Carlos Alcaraz has given his fans the reward they expected from him, beating the third seed Daniil Medvedev in the semis without dropping a single set.

The semi-final match between Medvedev and Alcaraz was expected to be a close one, considering their past meetings where both players had produced some glorious contests. Alcaraz won the match with the final score reading 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 with even Medvedev congratulating the Spaniard on the win after the match. When asked about how he feels about playing Novak Djokovic in the final, he said, “He is going to be really difficult. I will fight. That’s myself. I will believe in myself.”

He further added, “I will believe I can beat him here. I saw that he is unbeaten here since 2013 on this court, so it’s going to be challenging but I am ready for this. It will be special playing against Novak but it is a final. There’s no time to be afraid, no time to be tired. I will go for it and let’s see what happens.” Alcaraz will be looking to read the clippings of their past meetings and find a way to beat the Serbian, who is still unbeaten on the grass for the past six years.

Alcaraz’s aggression or Djokovic’s prowess?

Alcaraz has proven himself to be among the modern greats with several titles already in his bag despite being aged just 20 years old. His aggressive and creative style of play has quickly taken him to the top of the pile, allowing him to be no match for his opponents. It’s just been two years since this guy has taken off and he has already beaten the very bests in the business, announcing himself to the world with a bang.

On the other hand, there is nothing left for Novak Djokovic to achieve in the field of tennis with the player already in the history books and it would take something out of the world for any star in the future to even match his records. Being aged 36 at the moment and with no signs of slowing down, it is a very brave remark to say this, but he is expected to go down as the greatest ever to put his hands on a tennis racquet.
