Carlos Alcaraz reclaimed the World No.1 rank after winning his debut match at the Italian Open. While taking a tour at the Rome Hall of Fame, the Spaniard couldn’t hide his delight after witnessing the portrait of his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.

The reigning US Open champion has begun his clay campaign with outstanding achievements. He won the Indian Wells Masters title after defeating the Russian, Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. Alcaraz then won back-to-back titles at Barcelona and Madrid Open. His consecutive Madrid Open title made him the second player to achieve the record, after his compatriot, Rafael Nadal.

With his Italian Open debut, the Spanish player will now be entering the Roland Garros as the World No.1. His record-breaking accomplishments at such a young age can be somewhat credited to his praiseworthy coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero. The duo started working together three years ago and their partnership has generated eight titles and a Grand Slam trophy.

With Rafael Nadal’s ‘uncertain’ comeback and Novak Djokovic’s ‘little disappointing’ clay season, Carlos Alcaraz is leading as the top contender for the championship. His ‘unbeatable’ tennis on clay has become a nightmare for all the competitors.

The Spaniard has made his Italian Open debut with a victory and is now the new World No.1. His recent accolades in Barcelona and Madrid have generated enough momentum for him to deliver his best at the French Open. With his ‘explosive’ and ‘adaptive’ playing style, the US Open champion will be a huge hurdle to other player’s road to the championship.

Patrick Mouratoglou, Holger Rune’s former coach, recently praised the Spaniard as an ‘all-court’ player and cited clay as his strong suit. “Maybe I would give him a little advantage on clay than hard because he has some weapons that are deadly on clay. And of course, he’s an incredible mover. When you put all of this together, I think it gives him even an extra edge on clay compared to hard court ,” he said on his social media.

Novak Djokovic also praised Alcaraz for his fantastic tennis and is eagerly looking forward to an on-court battle with the US Open champion. ” I mean, he’s going to be No 1 after this tournament whatever happens. Deservedly so. He’s been playing some very impressive tennis, a great level. He’s the player to beat on this surface, no doubt,” Djokovic said during the press conference.

The ‘next-generation’ players like Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner, Casper Ruud, and Stefanos Tsitsipas will also be producing their best skills for achieving their maiden slam at the Roland Garros.
