Carlos Alcaraz releases statement confirming surgery for injury being necessary for participation in Paris Masters and ATP Finals

In heartbreaking news, Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz announced that he will not be participating in Swiss Indoor this year due to an injury. On Instagram, he revealed this news to his followers.

Alcaraz shared that he has a problem with the plantar fascia in his left foot and muscle fatigue in his lower back. Apparently, he would have to go through treatment so that he could participate in the remaining season.

The next events in line are the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals. Currently, the young player is positioned in 2nd place in the world ranking. For him to surpass Novak Djokovic, the current world number 1, he will have to perform well in these two events.

Because of his withdrawal from Basel, he is unlikely to overtake Djokovic at the top of the ATP rankings since he would need to win Paris and the ATP Finals to get close to the Serbian superstar.
