Carlos Alcaraz has had one of the most fabulous seasons of his career in 2023. The Spaniard has performed brilliantly in the Grand Slam events as well as the tours.

He was the only one who defeated Novak Djokovic in the Grand Slam Majors in the 2023 season and that too in the final of the Wimbledon. With the 2024 all set to commence, the young Spaniard has expressed his aspirations ahead of the 2024 season.

In an interview with German R. Abril, the 2022 US Open winner expressed his dream of winning the Olympics in the 2024 season. In the interview, the Spaniard said,

My goal for 2024? Win another Grand Slam and a medal at the Olympics. But if I had to choose between one or the other, I would choose the gold medal in Paris.

Various players have different perspectives on the Olympic games. While some feel that the Olympics is a level below the Grand Slam events, some like Alcaraz feel that it is the ultimate prize in any sport. Alcaraz has been repeatedly vocal about the importance of the grand prize. The Spaniard has also spoken about his dream of representing his country in doubles alongside Rafael Nadal, who is a master on the clay courts in Paris.

Can Carlos Alcaraz soak in the pressure of the Olympics?

There is no doubt that Carlos Alcaraz is one of the most talented young players of his generation. The skillset and resilience he has shown for a 20-year-old have been superb.

However, the stage will be much bigger just for skills. The Olympics will not test just the skills but also how much one can soak in the pressure. The pressure of representing the nation will be adding to it too.

The Spaniard will surely look forward to getting some piece of that gold in the mega event. However, he will not be the only one doing the hunt for the Olympic gold. Novak Djokovic will also look forward to getting his hands on the mega prize. The Serb has won every prize of the sport till now except the Olympic gold and the 2024 Paris Olympics will be his last chance to get his hands on it.
