The 20-year-old boy from Spain, Carlos Alcaraz, has enlightened the world of tennis with his jaw-dropping tennis. He now faces German Alexander Zverev in his first match of the Nitto ATP Finals. However, before the commencement of the clash between the most celebrated tennis layers currently, former tennis legend Alex Corretja revealed a few insights on the upcoming game.

I think for Sasha [Zverev] indoors might be probably the surface that he suits his game best because there's no wind to bother him on his serve, no sun on your face.

For context, the ball bounces exactly where Zverev is comfortable hitting his backhand, which ensures that he doesn’t step out of position and manages to hit the ball perfectly. However, on clay courts, the German steps out more, which may result in a few errors.

The Spaniard is going to debut against Zverev. He has managed to beat the German in their previous two encounters of the year. However, the tennis world saw a small dip in the form of Alcaraz, and it will be interesting to witness the nail-biter of a first-round clash. Corrteja believes that this match will be a “big battle” as both players prepare to face off another time this year.

Alex Corretja expects a big battle between Carlos and Zverev

Former Spanish professional tennis player, Alex Corretja makes a few predictions ahead of Carlos Alcaraz’s match against Alexander Zverev.

So I think the match is going to be a big battle. I wouldn’t be surprised if they finish at 7-5 or 7-5 in the third set because that would be pretty much what I expect. And from then on whoever wins that match is going to grow so much into the tournament.
Corretja said in the interview.

Both Alcaraz and Zverev have had a remarkable season so far as they face off against each other in their first match of the ATP Finals. The Spaniard makes his debut after an unfortunate replacement from last year’s tournament.

Whereas Zverev has won the Finals twice already and enters this year in search of another trophy. Both players have faced each other a total of six times, with each winning three times. This match ensures one of them gets a lead in the H2H and healthy momentum heading into the tournament.
